“My People Are Destroyed For”

Hosea 4

1 Hear the word of the Lord, ye children of Israel: for the Lord hath a controversy with the inhabitants of the land, because there is no truth, nor mercy, nor knowledge of God in the land.

2 By swearing, and lying, and killing, and stealing, and committing adultery, they break out, and blood toucheth blood.

3 Therefore shall the land mourn, and every one that dwelleth therein shall languish, with the beasts of the field, and with the fowls of heaven; yea, the fishes of the sea also shall be taken away.

4 Yet let no man strive, nor reprove another: for thy people are as they that strive with the priest.

5 Therefore shalt thou fall in the day, and the prophet also shall fall with thee in the night, and I will destroy thy mother.

6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.

7 As they were increased, so they sinned against me: therefore will I change their glory into shame.

8 They eat up the sin of my people, and they set their heart on their iniquity.

9 And there shall be, like people, like priest: and I will punish them for their ways, and reward them their doings.

There are a couple of notes that brought my thoughts into perspective. They are from my KJV Study Bible.

First let me give you the note on 4:9 since it sets the direction for this blog.

The note says:

“ ‘Like people, like priest’ — The priest of God is corrupted and made like the sinning people, not vice versa.”

A similar saying we are familiar with is: “Like father, like son.”

It means the son is like the father. That makes sense to me. But: “like people, like priest” seems backwards. It should be (in my head anyway):

Like priest, like people = the people are a reflection of the priest. If you see the people, you are seeing the priest.

I’m not sure what to ultimately think about “the priest of God is corrupted and made like the sinning people, not visa versa.”

Could it mean, at least in part, that if the priest/prophet/preacher doesn’t “reprove, rebuke and exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine” - doesn’t “declare the whole counsel of God” - then both “priest” and people will fall prey to their carnal, fleshly weaknesses? If so, that might help explain what’s taking place in our Americanized Churches (all brands).

Which is ——

Both “priest” and people are coalescing into a lackluster “contemporary,” homogenized, irrelevant mess due to their lack of knowledge through a rejection of information.

This could be a major factor as to why God’s people are destroyed (i.e., in a process of deterioration) for lack of knowledge.

So …

With that as a foundational thought …

Here’s the second note from my KJV Study Bible. It’s from 4:6.

“The cause of man’s problem is lack of knowledge. It does not stem from a shortage of information, but rather from rejection of information.”

Restating that positively: God’s people need to guard against burying their heads in the sands of information rejection.

In everyday life that sounds something like …

“Oh, really … I didn’t know THAAAT.” Or … How can I say anything, I don’t know that much about it?

We see this played out repeatedly in the history of God’s people. Over-and-over, God’s people reject the Information Givers (the prophets) — to their own destruction.

Thought:

Do God’s people purposely choose to be uninformed (i.e., reject information) Scripturally and culturally so as to plead ignorance, i.e., a lack of knowledge?

That probable potential is intensely beginning to cause me grave concern.

Why?

We are living in upside-down-and-inside-out times that are only going to get worse. All the while, we pretend everything is going to be fine because after all … we live in God Blessed America.

We have been programmed, purposely, to think that way from the first time we said The Pledge of Allegiance or sang My Country ‘Tis Of Thee. We just cannot find it in ourselves to think our Nation could be systemically (and systematically) at war with God and His Word — over multiple generations.

BUT … IT HAS, AND … IT WILL CONTINUE ON UNTIL …?

As we, God’s people, seek to grapple with, and come to terms with what is happening in our world, let me suggest a couple of important action steps. — —

*We must not allow our innate fears to keep us from knowing the necessary information that will embolden us to voice our opinions and take action regarding such things as: COVID, VACCINATION, MANDATES, BOOSTERS and whatever else will be dumped on us.

*We have to get intensely serious about spending dedicated daily periods of time in the Bible. We cannot expect to “discern the signs of the times” if we don’t crave the Information Source (God’s Word) that will keep us from being destroyed for lack of knowledge?

My fear is that we, God’s people, are living in denial just like the Jews in NAZI Germany did as the new political correctness slowly engulfed them.

How did it happen?

One mandate, one law, one violation, one death after another until hundreds of thousands were brutalized, imprisoned, experimented on, starved, buried alive, burned to ashes. (… just like MARIAN TURSKI said it happened to them.)

And yet …

As all this was slowly coming down on them …

They kept holding out thinking it would all pass over because … surely Hitler and his self-emboldened cohorts aren’t THAAAT bad. And besides, “we live in Germany — an enlightened God Blessed country, right?”

We look back now on that period of time with a sadness that wonders how they didn’t “see” what was happening to them in real-time. How could they have been so blind? we ask ourselves.

Are we really any different right now?

How much more has to be taken away from us?

How many “one more things” have to happen to us?

Right now, isn’t our Country, government, and leaders unfolding a similar game plan like those in prewar Germany?

You say: “Of course not!” — — You’re right.

Our leaders, in fact, just might be … worse.

How can I say that?

At least those in NAZI Germany tried to conceal their dastardly deeds from the public at large. Not us though:

*How many unborn babies have we brazenly and openly allowed to be killed, dissected and mutilated for the sake of scientific experimentation because well … it’s legal and, after all, it’s for the common greater good?

And yet, we are supposed to be somehow “better” than the NAZI doctors that did likewise??

{Again, just a gentle nudge in case you missed Dr. Plotkin’s deposition.}

*How many lives will be lost, or forever negatively affected, to a “vaccine” that is being unconstitutionally forced upon us through coercion and the removal of our rights as American citizens? And THE “VACCINE” DOESN’T EVEN WORK.

*How long will we sheepishly sit by as we witness the removal of our God-given right to obey our conscience —— as unto God alone?

*How long will we be complicit through our capitulation … one mandate, one law, one right, one “jab,” one booster at a time … until we’re brutally honest with ourselves that we have chosen to ——

Live in oblivion because we really don’t want to acquire the information that will give us the knowledge we need to:

*See our sins like never before

*Be strong enough to admit our spiritual lethargy

And …

*Let God’s Word do in us what we know needs to be done..

I’ll close with these verses for us to reflect upon with renewed purpose.

*Hosea 13:9 — O Israel, thou hast destroyed thyself; but in me is thine help.

*Hebrews 4:12

For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

It’s not just a matter of our head knowledge; it’s also a matter of our heart’s condition.
