The Counter Reformation is the ongoing battle against the manuscript texts underlying the King James Bible.
So, I ask ...
What is the Word of God? Where is the Word of God? Does anyone agree on what is the Word of God? Can anybody hold up a Bible and say with absolute authority and conviction that the Book they hold in their hand is the Inspired Word of God? Are all the Bible versions really saying the same things? How many versions of the Bible are in your church? Am I the only one that thinks all this is confusing?
I honestly don’t think so.
The Bible text issue is at the core of the demise of potent Christianity in America and the world at large. There really is “the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience.” Satan is using the same tactic he’s always used to take the lost to Hell — confusion about what God has said. And best of all — he’s using Bible believers and their confusion to his advantage.
I think our confusion over which Bible IS the Bible is the Trojan Horse of our faith — and Satan knows this. If those who claim to know the God of the Bible can’t agree on what Bible is the Bible, we’re sunk. A Christianity as confused as we are over which Bible is the Bible is like a house infested with termites. We’re crumbling into pieces and yet keep on like the structure is still stable and solid. The believing community is not stable and solid. And … the unbelieving world must look at us and think we’re idiots.
The Counter Reformation is not dead. When the Bible, through the Reformation, got into the hands of the common man, the Catholic church had to do something to gain back all the people they were losing to the truths of the Scripture. In order to do that they had to convince people that the manuscripts all previous Bibles were based on were flawed documents. The manuscripts they used to undermine and attack the progress of the Reformation were those that had been rejected by Bible believers in previous generations.
I would like to suggest that you consider viewing the materials by Adullam Films. These documentaries by Chris Pinto are mind-blowing, to say the least. Granted he’s not a fan of the messianic movement. (I think his misunderstanding is a direct result of the poor representation of those espousing to be in the messianic movement.) However, he is a solid born-again believer, believes the King James Bible IS the Word of God (as do I), and is dedicated to exposing “the spirit that now worketh.” I’ll warn you: Be prepared to have your world slightly upturned.
And perhaps … get yourself a King James Bible, read it, believe it and trust it. It’s the ONLY Bible, out of all the versions, that the ongoing Counter Reformation of the Catholic church still hates and attacks.
