Meat In The Sheet - Acts 10

The full power and effectiveness of the Bible is only possible if it remains one cohesive whole. If Satan can get us to DIVIDE the Scriptures, then he can CONQUER us! Don’t you think a master strategist would take full advantage of that? I do.

One of the fiery darts Satan has sent our way goes something like this:

A Broken ... Soul

As long as we feel at home in this world (and want this world to be our home) our souls won’t be able to break with longing for God’s judgments (His Kingdom) to come. Can I say it this way: God is longing for His people, en masse, to shed themselves of this world and focus on His coming Kingdom.

All The Ingredients Are Necessary

Why aren’t we scared to death by what we have done to God’s Word? Why is it that folks accept, without question, the changes that have been made to God’s Word? We should shutter at what we have done — all under the guise of “Jesus did away with the Law.”

And Yet Another Variation On A Theme “Is It Lawful?”

It wasn’t ever easy for me to slice up the Bible like a pie or cake. If God is anything, He is a unified, consistent, uncomplicated God. The reality that we tend to think otherwise is proof once again that we try to create God in our own image: a discombobulated, inconsistent, complicated mess.

I, for one, refuse any longer to believe God is anything less than He is. He is, always has been, and always will be the same yesterday, today and forever.

"Is It Not Lawful?"

(This is not the same as last week’s blog)

“Is It Not Lawful?”

Matthew 20:13-16

13 But he answered one of them, and said, Friend, I do thee no wrong: didst not thou agree with me for a penny? 14 Take that thine is, and go thy way: I will give unto this last, even as unto thee.15 Is it not lawful for me to do what I will with mine own? Is thine eye evil, because I am good?16 So the last shall be first, and the first last: for many be called, but few chosen.

I read this passage this morning. It seemed appropriate to write about this especially in light of last week’s blog: “It Is Not Lawful.”

God's Plumb Line - The Torah

So what is a plumb line?

Here’s a pretty good definition that I found.

“A plumb line, also called a plummet, is a cord with a non-magnetic weight attached to one end. When the cord is held in such a way that the weight can dangle freely, an exact vertical can be determined. Painters and carpenters use plumb lines to keep their work straight. It is difficult, while in the middle of a project, to determine a true horizontal or vertical line without an objective measuring tool, so a plumb line is employed. A plumb line applies the law of gravity to find right angles, to indicate the most direct route from top to bottom, and to keep things plumb. A plumb line doesn’t change or move with the whims of the carpenter. It remains true, and all work must line up with it or risk being crooked.”
